Hollister, California– San Benito County District 4 Supervisor Candidate Jim Gillio received another key endorsement today.
Today, SEIU Local 521 joined the San Benito County Deputy Sheriff’s Association (DSA), the Hollister Police Officer’s Association (HPOA) and the Hollister Fire Fighter’s Association (HFFA) in supporting and endorsing Jim Gillio for San Benito County Supervisor, District 4.
SEIU Local 521 stated: “After great consideration and discussion SEIU 521 has chosen to endorse Jim Gillio for San Benito County Supervisor, District 4. Jim will be a tremendous asset to our Board of Supervisors, providing positive leadership and a collaborative working relationship with all of the team members of San Benito County.”
The DSA stated: “We believe that now is the time for change, a time for new leadership within the County, a new voice, a trusted leader to represent District 4 and all of San Benito County. We believe this person is Jim Gillio and we are prepared to work hand in hand to make sure this county remains a place where our children want to raise their children.”
The HPOA stated: “This endorsement acknowledges your continued support and advocacy for the safety of the public and the officers who protect the community. As both a Hollister resident and Hollister City Councilman you have always made yourself available when called upon.”
The HFFA stated: “Gillio is a steadfast supporter of public safety with a proven track record of leadership. Gillio will work to build consensus with the Board of Supervisors, staff and the community to ensure that San Benito County is safe and secure for future generations.”
Gillio’s first priority is to fully staff and support our Sheriff’s Department and work with EMS and all county departments to fortify public safety. Gillio stated, “We must invest in public safety sooner than later, including personnel and equipment. Our community deserves to feel secure and to know that we have sufficient public safety resources ready to respond to our community’s needs.”
Safety is the building block for Gillio’s second two priorities: economic development and fiscal solvency. Gillio will work with city and county team members and the community to use the newly approved Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) to compete for state grants. These grants will then be used to bolster San Benito County’s EDC, support local business expansion and attract new businesses and living wage jobs to the region.
From Gillio: “Once we have safety and economic development on a path to growth and success, our county will see an increase in revenue and quality of life. This increase in revenue will enable us to repair our roads and other failing infrastructure. This is a long-term plan that will bring our county into the future ensuring that our children and their children have a safe community to live, work and play.”
